Fantastic German cast silver and etched glass claret jug / wine ewer.

Description

A wonderful solid silver (8o0 /1000) claret jug / wine ewer dating to Ca. 1880. The clear glass body of bulging ovoid form with hand etched decoration featuring C scrolls, swags and various otherembellishments. The heavy, cast silver mounts with all-over baroque-style decoration including a wonderfullycastacanthusleaf scroll handle. Lid mounted with cast silver lion holding a shield, standing within a silver coronet. Hallmarked for 800 silver and maker\'s mark, probably Rossdeutscher & Reisig.A really top quality piece.

Great condition, normal wear, no damage.
