Offered here is a fabulous vintage pair of Lion Bookends. These date to the 1920s. They are signed by well listed sculptor Gregory Seymour Allen. These bookends are heavy solid cast iron with an original bronze finish. They each feature a very distinguished Regal Lion with full mane. The detail and casting is very realistic and well done. They are both signed for Gregory S. Allen.
Each bookend measures 5 1/2\" in height by 5\" wide and a little over 2\" deep. They each weigh close to 3 pounds and will hold up a large stack of books. They are numbered on the backs 299. Each retains the original green felt bottoms with age appropriate wear. The bronze finish is in very good condition. This fine pair of bookends will look stunning in any home or office.
Gregory Seymour Allen was Born in Orange, NJ on July 8, 1884. Allen studied under Gutzon Borglum, H. M. Shrady, and Philip Martini. Formerly of New York, he moved to southern California in 1925 and settled in Glendale. He died there on April 8, 1934. He is a very well listed California Sculptor and artist.Safely packed delivery will be FREE in the US.
