iANTIQUE H. J. HEINZ CO. 1891 GLASS JAR. WOW! This is a wonderful RARE-early advertising Heinz Ketchup Jar. It has turned purple from being in a ditch for so long and sun-soaked. Glass turns purple because of the manganese in it that has oxidized. Doesn\'t make it any less old or collectible! This jar stands approx 6\" tall x 3\" across bottom of base and opening is approx 2\" across. It\'s kind of squatty in stature with curved shoulders. NO top. It has 10 sides. Weighs approx 1.5 Embossed on the bottom in raised lettering is: H. J. HEINZ CO. PAT JUNE 9th 1891. In center of bottom circle is 69--think this meant 69 oz?? If held to light you can see bubbles that has also formed in the glass-history of piece. Shows it was a hand-blown glass piece and the bubbles got trapped. NO cracks or repairs on this great piece of historical-condiment-advertising pieces of glass from on of our oldest companies in US.
