Antique Japanese Tanto dagger / knife in carved ox bone mountings - late 19th - early 20th century.
The sheath and handle are carved from ox bone and decorated with human figures.
The blade looks to be a hand-forged blade with visible grain and parts of a tempering line (Hamon) - it is very sharp but needs a good cleaning / polishing.
Very good condition for the age with no losses or repairs - age ware visible - please view detailed pictures.
It measures overall 38.5 cm long - cutting edge only of the blade is 19 cm long.
