A 17th century gold and diamond ring and a 19th century neo-Renaissance gold and paste ring 1st: The central table-cut diamond in an elaborate scroll mount with engraved decoration, 2nd: the later replaced circular-cut red paste in an elaborate high collet setting, between scrolling shoulders, both with traces of enamel decoration, ring sizes P and O respectively (2)
Provenance:
Lots 249 and 250, The Collection of H. Gordon Bois, Sotheby\'s, 1 April 1947. The 1947 catalogue entry dated both rings as 16th century and of either Italian or German origin however it is more likely that both rings are of later date than previously thought.
