ANTIQUE NAPOLEONIC PRISONER OF WAR CARVED COQUILLA NUT NEEDLE CASE ETUI c1810
A superbly carved needle case dating to circa 1810. The case has been carved from two coquilla nuts, joined with a screw thread in the center. Many believe that such items were carved by Naval prisoners of war highly skilled in the art of carving as many survive with a Napoleonic theme. This little case is beautifully carved with figures around the lower section and a woman on the top. The end is carved with a lions head, truly a work of art.The case is in excellent condition and measures 4 inches long.
