This is for an original civil war d guard bowie knife. It is in excellent condition with little wear. It is dated on blade 1862. Boyle & Gamble & company on blade, Richmond VA. Acid etched CSA on blade. In over 50 years of knife study in the museum field at the Smithsonian, Colonial Williamsburg, and Conners Prarie, and a lifetime of knife making and historic consulting, this is the finest example of a d guard knife I have seen.
