FROM A HOME IN THE STOCKADE IN SCHENECTADY NY. THE STOCKADE IS A HISTORICAL SECTION OF SCHENECTADY NY WHERE THE DUTCH SETTLERS ORIGINALLY LIVED AND --- SETTLED.
THE STOCKADE WAS AN ACTUAL STOCKADE DESIGNED TO PROTECT THE SETTLERS FROM ATTACKS FROM THE NATIVE MOHAWK INDIANS. MANY OF THE HOMES IN THIS AREA DATE FROM LATE 1700\'S I THINK A FEW ARE EARLIER AND THE 1800\'S.
THIS SURROUND COULD BE FROM THE TURN OF THE CENTURY OR IT COULD BE FROM THE EARLY 1800\'S.
IT IS IN VERY NICE SHAPE. AND HAS A GREAT GODDESS ON ON IT AND THE CAST IRON AND PRESSED TIN WHILE RUSTY ARE REALLY IN VERY NICE SHAPE.
MEASURES: 24 1/2\" WIDE X 30 1/4\" TALL STICKS OUT ABOUT 2 1/2\" AT THE CURVED TOP.
INSERT IS 20 1/4\" WIDE X 26 1/2\" TALL.
INSIDE DIMENSIONS OF CAST IRON SURROUND IS 20 3/4\" WIDE X 26 1/4\" WIDE ( TOP EDGE OF INSERT STICKS INSIDE THAT\'S HOW INSERT IS TALLER THAN THE INTERIOR DIMENSIONS. )
INSERT IS STAMPED 222. NO MAKERS MARK COULD BE JACKSON ( NYC) OR OTHER. THERE ARE OTHER ORNATE CAST IRON REGISTER VENT COVERS, OTHER FIREPLACE SURROUNDS ARCHED AND RECTANGULAR IN MY store - AND PLENTY OF VICTORIAN CAST IRON LEGS AND HARDWARE. If shipping is \"FREE\" then I still ship Priority if the cost is just a little more than Standard. For large or heavy items to Pacific Coast or Mountain I may ship standard post.
I try to \"SUPER PACK\" and expect items will probably get dropped or thrown around during shipment- I hardly ever have damaged items.

LARGE FURNITURE ITEMS: I ship larger furniture items ( dining room tables and chairs, lounge chairs, dressers, etc) via Greyhound as they have a great record of NOT HARMING furniture items and no conveyor belts are involved so your item doesn\'t flip around a bunch of times. It\'s more work but probably well worth it so your Mid Century / Danish Modern or Antique item arrives to you safe and sound. :)
YOU CAN ALWAYS ARRANGE TO SHIP IT BY FREIGHT.
YOU CAN ALWAYS PICK UP ITEM LOCALLY FOR NO SHIPPING OR HANDLING CHARGE.
I will hold items if you want to buy them and then drive up from New York City or wherever and save on the shipping.
I will deliver most large items for $200 to most of New England, New York City , New Jersey which is sometimes less than, for example, what it would cost to ship a set of dining room chairs.
PAYMENT: Payment is expected in 72 hours ( 3 days) unless you email me and make other arrangements. Sooner is always appreciated. :)
REFUNDS: In the unpleasant event that something breaks during shipment- just send me photos and I will send you a refund. No problem. Occasionally I may still want the item returned and reserve the right to ask you to send it back.
