Lovely 19th century black painted and decorated papier maché on wood bread tray has scalloped gilt edges and abutterflies and flowers motif. Gold vines connect the rose- and white-colored flowers amidst blue and yellow butterflies. I purchased it from an antiques dealer in NYC over 30 years ago and have always kept it as a display piece. On the back is a label with the dealer\'s description...\"Wonderful papier maché bread dish in unusual floral and butterfly pattern. c 1860.\" The tray measures 13.75\"L x 9.5\"W x 1.75\"H. Overall it is in very good condition with some evidence of wear typical of its age and use. See photos for best description.
