*Layaway available for this sale* VICTORIAN Paper Mache DIORAMA ORIGINAL GERMAN PUTZ SCENE CIRCA 1890-1900 18" H X 13" W X 10" D This is a wonderful Antique GERMAN Victorian Diorama Putz Scene used in Christmas Tree Decorations.Usuallly scene at the base of a tree.Wonderful scene of a Day around church or School.I am assuming its a church though it appearsto be missing a steeple at the top. Made entirelyof german cardboard/papermache. Handpainted. All original paper mache child holding a cornucopia.Birds, German Putz Billy Goat is peeking outof the side under the church bell. The door is made up of some type of metal.Surroundingthe door are these round formations that Ihave sceneon the very old german tramp art pieces. Of course, it could be a school house too.The watchtower has a really cool lithographclock under a celluloid panel. There are steps goinginto the building. There are window boxes on both front windows with separated panes. The bellworks. There is a bridge, putz farm bird and chicken, Christmas tree, smokestack. The roof is so interesting, it is madeas if it is brick or stone. Ihave seen roofs like thisin the villages of northEastern germany in Thuringia and Erzgebirge. The building looks as if itwas made to be a stucco style.Entire item is handmade but it was placed overa new board on the bottom to protect the piece from further damage. Moss was addedlater as well. There is damage to the roof and the steeple, somethingonce sat on there. The watchtower has missing vertical column. This is VERYVERYold and one can expect it to not bein perfect condition. All the more merrier!!!There is a whole lot going on here and youjust have to examine the photos to see the workmanship. It is really sweet.Circa 1890-1900
