Stunning Collector Antique French DIEPPE Carved Reliquary Of JESUSfrom 1800\'s.

Fromthe hairto the carefully carved feet, the remarkable detail and skill presented in this collector quality sculpture is impressive of reality.

In the seventeenth century an ivory trade grows between Dieppe and Guinea. The city becomes prosperous through the work of ivory whose quality became famous throughout France and beyond.

Christ in DIEPPEis placed on a beautiful ebonised wooden cross, placed in an antique red velvet background, surrounded by a stunning ormulu ovalwood frame, closed by a convex glass. The ormulu wood frame is molded and decorated with leaves and flowers.

Beautiful work of sculpture, a real religious treasure from the French past!

Condition:

In good condition, some traces on the red velvet background due to the passage of time. Note a small crack on the top of the ormuluwood frame. In my opinion, nothing serious, almost unnoticeable. please enlarge pictures to see in detail. probable lack of skull above crossed tibia.
