ANTIQUE GOLD GILT, SOLID STERLING SILVER (.930) AND GUILLOCHE SINGING BIRD BOX (CIRCA LATE 1800\'s / early 1900\'s)

The guilloche tooling is amazing on this bird box and offers the illusion of zigzag patterns when in fact, the guilloche tooling is a series of wavy radial lines. It is very cool. The case is well crafted and in outstanding condition.

The bird is highly colorful boasting a blue, green and red iridescent hummingbird feathers. Iridescent feathers present themselves differently depending upon the light source and viewing angle. I tried to capture the beauty of this bird using different angles in my video but cameras never do these feathers justice.

This was crafted by the enigmatic German singing bird maker OMM. The OMM firm worked closely with Karl Griesbaum when Karl was first starting to craft singing bird boxes and also joined efforts with the Swiss firm of Raymy later on. OMM bird box movements always have the governor fan positioned to the rear and they are uncommon.

I fully serviced (cleaned, adjusted, lubricated)the mechanical movement so this singing bird box operates perfectly. I also restored the bird using brand new parts. Buyers should be cautious when purchasing an antique singing bird box - always insist on seeing a photo of the mechanical movement foranysinging bird box described as \"antique\". Over 75% of the \"antique\" singing bird boxes for sale on & other other venues are not antique and many even have brand new mechanisms inside which are not disclosed to buyers. This significantly impacts both current value and future value appreciation.

The bird animates perfectly as follows: wings flap up/down, beak opens/closes, tail flutters up/down, bird turns left/right all the while singing to a beautiful oscillating bird song that is synchronized to the bird animation.
