Thisexceptional STERLING SILVER coffee pot, tea pot and cream jug was made by Martin, Hall & Co.( Richard Martin & Ebenezer Hall)in London in 1875.

THE QUALITY:Each pieceis FULLY HALLMARKED on the side near the top.They havethe makers mark of RM over EH in a quatrefoil which arethe marks for Richard Martin and Ebenezer Hall. Alsothe lion passant guardant which isthe British mark for sterling silver.And the lion head mark signifying that these pieces were made in London. The capital U on all three pieces is for theyear mark for 1875. They also have the Queen Victoria young head mark which designates that the duty taxwas paid. RMis forRichard Martin; EH is for Ebenezer Hall; which was known as Martin, Hall & Co; which company was in business from 1820 to 1936; in the cities of Sheffield and London. \"This was one of the best known British manufacturers of silver wares, and participated in many international exhibitions, including the Crystal Palace Great Exhibition of 1851 in London\".(quote from: Hallmarks of English Silver Directory Silver Makers Marks and Identification) (which site can be found on the internet) The cream jug has the \"diamond\" VICTORIAN REGEISTRATION MARKon the bottom.

THE WEIGHT: The 3pieces WEIGH IN TOTAL 1736 grams or 56 troy ouncesof sterling 925 silver. The coffee pot weighs 770 grams equals 24.7 troy ounces. The tea pot weighs 734 grams equals 23.7 troy ounces. The creamjugweighs 233 grams equals 7.52 troy ounces.

THE SIZES: are Coffee pot: 10\" high to top of finial, 5\"across hexagonal base;Teapot: 7\" high, 5 1/2\" across base; Hot water jug: 5\" high to top of handle, 3\"across base. The shape of each is octagonal. The pieces each have initials which are entwined KSS (or SKS or SSK)

TheCONDITION: TheCOFFEE pot is clean and usable. The handle has been repaired long ago at thebone inserts.(see photos). It also has a smalldent on the handle. There are various other MINOR marks due to use andantiquity The TEAPOT is clean and usable. The handle on it has also beenrepairedat the bone inserts and has asmall denton the handle(seephotos). It hasa repair at the bottom of the spout.TheCREAM JUG is clean and usable. There are no repairs and no dings. I have used this set on many special occasions over the last 40 years and have greatly enjoyed the grace and beauty of it.Some of them showpoorly due to reflections. ( I need a professional photographer??)
