This is a really stunning ANTIQUE solid sterling silver circular LARGE bonbon or sweetmeat bowl, stand or pedestal dish that was made in Norwich, Norfolk in 1913 by the celebrated East Anglian silversmith, Theodore Rossi at his Market Place workshops. It has a gorgeous ART NOUVEAU shape, has a gorgeous plain bowl and is raised on a superb three legged high pedestal base. It measures 4 1/2" in diameter and stands 4 3/8" high. It is very substantial - it is not loaded - it weighs219.2 grams - which isover 7troy oz. It is engraved to the bowl with Heads Trophy for best standards of work.
It is in very good condition for its age with a little less than the usual surface scratching but few dents or dings, little distortion and, unusually, NO compression to the base - see photographs - SUPERB. This beautiful piece is hallmarked with TR, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark),leopard head, sshowing that it was hallmarked in London in 1913. I have shown the hallmark so that you can make up your own mind. This is a really super quality ANTIQUE ART DECO piece with a fantastic design after100years - I'm afraid that my pictures do not really do it justice!!!
