Description: A rare and amazing 18th to19th century ethnic Tibetan Tribal Shaman\'s Ritual Altar Container, carved of auspicious sandalwood, depicting a primitive mythological Bear, used during early Tibetan animistic religious and cultural ceremonies to contain sacred objects. Measuring approximately 7.0 inches (17.78cm) in length.xxxx Carved image of a distorted-looking animal spirit that resembles a monster with a rampant disposition, postured crouching with it\'s head turned, ridged spine, clawed feet, and spiraling tail. A well shaped torso designed with a hollowed out storage compartment and fitted lid. The face emanates that of a festive ritual mask, with it\'s almond-shaped eyes bulging, an exaggerated long nose connected to relief-carved eyebrows, and open mouth with protruding tongue.
