Antique Signed Cameo.........
Magnificent large cameo depicting the three graces. This is a substantially sized cameo at over 2 1/2\" wide and is set in a strong heavy solid 9ct gold frame with rope border.
Thethree graces were a very popular motif in the 19th Century, particularly in the carving of cameos. This particular example is rather nice as it is modelled on the 1798 painting by Canova, The Three Graces Dancing in front of Mars.
This fabulous shell cameois signed on the rear \"Lamont\" it is in fabulous condition with no cracks but it does have some \"stress lines\" fine fissures that do NOT come through to the front but are visiable when held up to the light. This is a common feature / condition of older cameos.
It fastens with a pin and roll-over clasp.
