Superb Antique Shell Cameo.......
This is the finest carved cameo I have ever bought and it is in immaculate condition with not even a stess line. It is superbly mounted in a fine yellow 14ct gold frame withrope twist and beaded borders.
The subject matter is the Greek Mythological figure of Hebe, Godess of Youth and daughter of Zeus. Below is the Eagle, faithful Royal Servant of her Father carrying a cornucopia of fruit.
The carving is absolutely sublime, every feather of the Eagle and curl of Hebe - superb craftmanship.

The frame looks buckled in the photo but it is not, it is just following the height and line of the shell as is usual. The roll-over clasp looks like a historical replacement in white metal but it has been well executed.
It comes in the Italian gold tooled leather box pictured.
