RT into a rectangle for Robert Thornton (registered mark July 1866 - 1877)
Silver grade: (Lion passant) 925 = 92.5% pure
Assay: (Anchor) Birmingham Town Mark

The lid fits cleanly and the hallmarks are clear and distinct. The front cartouche has an applied silver, later vacant name roundel. Overall it is in excellent original antique condition with some very minor pushes, and a couple of tiny dints to the outer edges, otherwise without repairs, holes, splits or serious dents or damage - a superb little piece.
