ANTIQUE c1860 QING CHINESE LACQUER SEWING BOX GOLD GILT fine wood casket
All in very good condition. A pretty Chinese box with decorative rounded scalloped corners design. Essentially wood, with black lacquer finish & hand gold painted decoration of Chinese people in scenery foliage & buildings ( always magnificent detailed work ). The sides are excellent , the lid top is rubbed but as is, is quite passable as the majority of the design is still there & better than most. It has its key working well in the lock, locking & opening again the box as it should. Internally it has a lift out tray, with a lot of its original little fittings tools in place, needle cases thread winders tatting shuttle etc. And again inside within the tray, hand decorated lift off lids, very pretty. It is supported on four dragons claw feet. Measuring approx 12 x 8 3/4 x 4 3/4 inches overall. The box has had a light clean, it looks lovely & as such is very presentable.
