This is a superART DECOsolid sterling silver cigarette case that was made in Birmingham, England in 1938 by the illustrious silversmiths,Joseph Gloster Limitedat theirHockley Hill workshops. It is a double and holds cigarettes on both sides. It measures2 5/8\" wide by3 1/8\" high. It weighs74.3 grams -almost2 1/2troy oz. It is engraved to the front and rear with gorgeousengine turneddecoration and is engravedEGS to the cartouche on the lid.

It hasa little less than the usual light surface scratching andfew dingsand NOdents picked upover 75+years. Even the internal gilding is in pretty good condition - SUPERB. It is hallmarked to the lid with JGLtd, anchor, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark),Oshowing that it was hallmarked in Birmingham in 1938. The base is also hallmarked lion passant and O. I have shown the main hallmark so that you can make up your own mind. A really superb and high qualityART DECOcase in very good condition afterover 75years!!!!!!
