ART DECO VINTAGE Solid Silver LARGE TEAPOT Hallmarked 1931 Sterling Lovely NR
Birmingham - Superb Design & Condition - 17+ troy oz.
This is a stunning VINTAGE LARGE solid sterling silver tea pot which was made in Birmingham, England in 1931 by the famous silversmiths, William Suckling Limited at their Vyse Street workshops. It has a fabulousART DECO circular shape, has a composition handle and finial, a stunning decorated band, a shell decorated spout and is raised on a stepped pedestal base. It is NOT engraved. It measures6 3/4" high to the top of the finial, is 5 1/8" in diameter by 8 5/8" long from handle to spout. It is VERY substantial - it weighs528.9 grams - that isover 17troy oz. !!!! It has a capacity ofover 1 3/4imperial pints.
It is in very good condition for its age with less than the usual surface scratching and NO splits or repairs, anda very few dings and one dent anda little distortion - SUPERB. The handle is firm as is the finial. The hinge has little playand NO spring. It is hallmarked SLd, anchor, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark),G showing that it was hallmarked in Birmingham in 1931. I have shown the hallmark so that you can make up your own mind.
