A large, heavy, solid silver ladle from the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the end of the 19th century.The ladle is stamped with the Austrian assay mark of the period with the letter \'A\' for Vienna and the number \'3\' indicating 800/1000 silver fineness - and the initials FB in a rectangle, themark of silversmith Franz Bibus, whoseworkshop opened in 1883. The \'Flared Tip\' handle is decorated with stylized images of leaves and berries in the Art Nouveau style.

Generally very good condition, with average usage marks not unusual in a vintage piece of table silver. There is a small, hardly visible hairline mark on one side of the joint between the handle and the bowl. Approximate measurements: weight 207 grams; length of the handle to the edge of bowl: 23 cm, diameter of bowl: 8.6 cm, bowl depth: 3.5 cm.
