AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN JUGENDSTIL BRASS AND GLASS INKSTAND - WATERLILY c.1910:

There is a wide range of these brass inkwells with water lily budinkwell lids. They were made in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, probably Prague,just before both the Empire and Art Nouveau/Jugendstil design came to an abruptend in 1914.

Glass inkwell fits into a square setting on the tray
The glass has bevelling on every edge, wider on the sides
Brass inkwell lid collar and a water lily shaped lid
Underside of the lid marked DRGM [German registered design] and OE. P [Austrian design protection.
There is no insert [and shows little sign of use]- usually these pieces had no inserts or brass ones; don\'t let dealers con youinto paying for ceramic ones, they were never used in these.

SIZE - Tray = 6.75\" x 3.25\". Glass inkwell = an exact 4.5 cm. cube.

CONDITION - no problems, no damage, great condition. No damage to the glass, very strong hinges.

Although it is a good fit and looks great, I cannot guarantee that this is not a married piece - the glass inkwell may not have originally been made for this tray.
