This particular AUTHENTIC flask islooking for a home with a true collector who knows it is valued between: $1,500-$3,000.I guarantee the authenticity of this flask. It is not a fake or reproductionitem. I personally know the family that this has been passed down to throughgenerations of time. I am giving this a chance to sell on before placingit on sale sites where I have been assured it will sell. This is an 1850pre-Civil War Era U.S. ARMY “peace” powder flask. It is solid brass andobviously very old. The maker’s mark of “Batty” is stamped opposite the year onthe spout base and the inspector mark of ADK is below it to the right. ADKstands for A.D. King. He was an Armory S-1 Inspector of Colt Third ModelDragoon, the Colt Model 1851 and Cold Model 1861 revolvers and Starr revolversfrom 1850-1865.There is also a K stamped on the spout ferrule . The eagle looksto the right towards the arrows. The clasped hands are a design associated witha sign of “Peace”, which is where the flask gets its name. The shaking handsare surrounded by an oval sunburst of 12 points surrounded by an oval of 20stars. The trophy panel consists of only 2 draped Flags and a differentarrangement of cannons, muskets, bugles and swords. Additionally, on the left,a pistol butt can be seen upward of the halberd and a knife. There is a singlestar to the rear of the cannon barrel at the upper right corner of the shieldwhich stands straight up and contains a large U.S. Both sides of the flask areidentically embossed and has the attached original round suspender rings. Theflask is 7 ½” in length from the top of the ferrule to its base. The spout orloading charger is 1 ¾” long. The collar of the flask with the spout removed is1 ½” in diameter. The widest portion of the flask is 4 1/8” and it is 1 ¾”thick. There is an obvious indentation or “dent” to the front center of theflask just above the shield. The spring and graduator are in-tact. These flaskswere stamped out in two pieces and braised together. The seam on the bottom ofthis flask has the beginnings of a split. Thank you for checking out thisAWESOME listing.
