old slate collected in the 1950\'s and part of the James Family estate collection
The James family were Christian Ministers.As Clergymen they travelled and collected stones from the 1900\'s through to the early 1950\'s as they explored the outback collecting and receiving gifts.
A very rare design of 7 Wandjina spirits connected by lines-this could represent a family tree or \'energy\' rays from one to the other
old faded white ocher background with red ocher faces and yellow eyes.
Wandjina are spirit forms that are said to have left their impressions on rocks they are associated with rain and thunder and lightening and do not need mouths.These spirit beings are powerful and respected.
maybe also represent clan groups connected.
possibly a portable story stone or part of a bigger picture.
There are various chips and few scratches as is to be expected with an old piece.This does not affect the overall great and visual design which is still quite visibly clear.
