Abraham Lincoln Autograph Endorsement Signed (A Lincoln Aug. 13, 1864) On December 8th 1863 Abraham Lincoln issued a proclamation which provided a means of repatriating \"those who resume their allegiance\" even though the war was still in progress.To those who took the Oath of Loyalty he was prepared to issue a full pardon.Lincolnwrites \" Let this Man take the oath of Dec 8th 1864 and be discharged. A Lincoln Aug. 13th 1864.\" But the unique thing about this particular document is that instead of writing the date of the proclamation as Dec 8th 1863 Lincoln makes a mistake and writes it as Dec 8th 1864. Hemust of had a lot on his mind.
