Beautiful example of a 1930\'s-1950s Acoma Olla pot. No repairs with one area of scaling and a slight crack. I have owned this piece and others in New Mexico since the 1980\'s with no variation of condition.
10\"wide x 8\" \"high. Un-signed and very typical of pots ranging from the 1930\'s-1950\'s Acoma, with typical aging and wear.Pots before 1955 even by High Artisans were NOT signed. Only after artists such as Lucy Luis (Lewis), Marie Chino, Jessie Garcia, Juana Leno, (the Four Matriarchs), did pottery become signed by individuals.
As for this piece, owned by me since the 1980\'s and is unchanged and no variation of description, and was a gift from G. Chino of the Acoma Pueblo Tribe. I cannot confirm whether this is the Chino family, (Marie Chino/potter) which are noted artisians and potters from Acoma and New Mexico, but as Acoma is very small, must be related.
Recently appraised and was told it was a 1940- 1950\'s Acoma (Mother Road) piece value at approx $2000 in today\'s art markets, it is offered along with several other pieces of art from noted Native American artists..
See all the photos for inspection. Thanks for looking. I am selling a lot of my antique and NATIVE AMERICAN ARTIST\'s collection of pottery, paintings, and sculptures, so check out myother items!..
