What an interesting rug or textile wall hanging.I had never heard of Lesotho before as well as many others, I assume.Lesotho is a land locked country found in the center of South Africa,beautiful high altitude mountains, and a female population that is economically vulnerable.I will not go in to much detail you can look it up on the internet.As far as art and crafts it seems that the only thing the country is noted for is their distinctive hand woven mohair carpets and tapestries.These are crafted by the local women and this one is signed by the weaver.The rug/ tapestry is wonderful and made of pure mountain mohair.The rug seems to have age, this came from an estate with some great rugs and such.I will be listing another fine textile blanket.
