This is an amazing representation of a Hemba ancestor. The carving is exquisite the patina remarkable and the condition very good showing only a couple of very small hairline cracks. Statues of this style date back to the early 20th century. She is 8\" tall by 2.5\" wide. This is one of very few objects considered to be from the \"Bula\" school, after a village in south Eastern Zaire near the confluence of the Luvua and Lukuga rivers where several objects of this style have been collected. A very traditional carved statue.
