The Bamum kingdom is in the Cameroon. The country is in west central Africa, bordered by Nigeria, Gabon and the Republic of Congo.

The people work in various industries, including agriculture, timber, roads and railways.

Beads were precious in much of Africa and this is why they are associated with the wealthy and royalty.

Here is a brightly coloured beaded male figure from the Cameroon, circa mid to late 20th century.

The carved wooden figure is solid. This is covered in exquisitely detailed, well executed bead work.

There is some wear, but in general the condition is good.
