You are offerding on one museum quality reproduction World War One (WW1) Chin Strap for the M16 or M17 Helmet in aged condition. This strap has Steel fittings, cotton stitching, made of black leather and is made in Germany. We have had these made up to provide WWI Helmet collectors with the best chin-strap possible for your M16 or M17 Helmet after being disappointed with current reproductions.These are AGED. The steel is rusty and the leather is dark, slightly shrunk and marked with age wrinkles in places.

This strap is suitable for the WW1 Stahlhelm, Pickelhaube and Shako such as the Jager (Jäger) or Gebirgstruppen (gebirgsjäger) Shako\'s.

Features: accurate tolerance for the lug fittings - they wont fall off (but if you want a tighter fit gently tap the edge with a hammer!); one piece leather (not bonded leather); cotton stitching in rough style (like the originals); accurate measurements;strong steel buckles (you will not break them); ferrous metal (it rusts in the damp like the originals); the correct tone & colour of dyed leather; made in Germany by an original hat manufacturer. These are ideal for original or refurbished helmets.

A little tip - you can get a really good deep patina if you polish them with boot polish and then treat them with leather mosturiser. Especially if done over several weeks!
