This is an amazing whig rose pattern and I haven\'t ever found it before.

c 1850s

The uniqueshape of the center flowers makes this pattern the English rose.

Designed in a four block. What makes it so interesting are the leaves that have reverse applique work. Also termed as \"split leaf\". I love the way it vines around the border. Which I think is different.

An incredible amount of applique work. It will take your breathaway!

Solids in turkey red, green and a dash of solid cheddar.

Measures 92 x 79 inches

Hand quilted 9 stitches per inch in a cross hatch pattern.

The applique is finely hand sewn. Binding hand sewn. Batting is thin.

Has age spotting and tanning, tiny surface holes to the applique in places, bite to binding, color lift of fugitive green in places. See photos.
