Blue Bird
An Italian pottery bird and bowl set designed by Aldo Londi for Raymor Bitossi. The set includes a figural bird box with dished lid and a large ashtray, both glazed in mottled aqua with deep pooled blue. I believe this was designed as a smoking set; the covered box to store cigarettes. This set looks like it was outside for awhile; some mineral deposits, etc. Marked on the bottom, \"Italy,\" with some numbers. A cool set for the collector!
Scattered small chips, nicks and glaze flakes. Crazing and mineral deposits inside both bowls. Discoloration to base.Bird is 9\" long, 7 1/8\" high. Ashtray is 7 3/4\" across, 2\" high.
