Up for sale is a rare antique book Peter Rabbit at the Farm by Duff Graham, printed in 1917 by Henry Altemus Company. This book is in fair condition with some torn pages for the first 14 pages, but after that the pages are in good condition. All text is present and very readable on all pages. The illustrations are in very good condition, bright and beautiful. The cloth binding is intact with no breaking of the spine.Some foxing is present and a child wrote owner\'s names on the inside cover. Highlandtown Public School is stamped on inside and back inside covers. See photos for condition of this book. .Altemus used 30 of the original Beatrix Potter illustrations in this book.
The frontispiece has the word frontispiece below the picture. Book is 5 1/2\" x 4 1/4\".It is well known that the Warne Co. which published the original Beatrix Potter books, did not receive a copyright for Peter Rabbit in a timely manner, and Altemus committed the first American piracy of a book by publishing his series of Peter Rabbit books in this country. This is one of pirated books.
