As featured in the 2000 Neiman Marcus Christmas Book, this life-size Santa is one of the most unique Christmas decorations you could own! This hand-made Santa is a custom creation by artists Jackie Cruse and Teri Doggett of J & T Designs and Imaginations. Some of their other life-size Santas have even been displayed in the Texas Governor\'s Mansion and even the White House! In 2001 the duo sold their company to Boyds Collections while continuing to design Santas for them over the next few years. Jackie Cruse left Boyds venturing out on his own once again continuing to design and create custom hand-crafted Christmas figures.
This Santa\'s original owner set him up in the foyer of their historic Bed and Breakfast where he made a grandiose and festive impression as guests first walked in! Could you imagine? Children as well as adults were fascinated by him! When we acquired him, we set him up in front of our floor-to-ceiling window of our historic home in Baltimore where his looked out over the sidewalk and street to dog walkers, joggers, cyclists and all passer-bys. Everyone always stopped to do a double-take and we received the most wonderful compliments. We have since moved to a smaller house on the Eastern Shore and don\'t have the room nor the ability to show him off like we used, so we have decided to sell him.
Labeled on a plaque as the \"Santa of Winter Cottage\", \"St. Nicholas\", \"2000\", this Santa is 27\" at his widest point and stands at 6\'-2\" (includes 3\" wheeled base) and and is very lifelike in appearance. His face is hand-carved out of resin and includes realistic wrinkles, a rounded nose, rosy cheeks, lashes, a white beard, mustache and eyebrows giving him a elderly, gentle and cheery vibe. He is wearing a multi-colored, hand-quilted, hooded coat trimmed with faux-fur and a tasseled-sash around his waist. He also has dark green velvet pants stuffed into tall black boots.
He is holding a Christmas wreath that lights up (via power cord) in one arm and cradling a beautiful doll and a teddy bear in the other. Over his one shoulder and arm are two more teddy bears and draped over the other shoulder, is a sash holding a stuffed velvet stocking with a gift peeking out. His boots are surrounded by a small wooden train set, teddy bears and another doll. Under the doll sits a blue box that had the name plaque on the lid and inside the box is where a rope is contained. The rope is used to hook onto two eye-hooks on the base that allows for easy rolling/maneuvering.
He has been lovingly cared for and is in great condition with exception to the toy wood train which has signs of wear (probably from children trying to play with it) and from being moved. Touch up paint could bring that back to great condition though. The 24\" diameter round base is on four large casters for easy rolling, even on carpet.
