Cross River - late 1800 or early 1900
  • wood, pigment ; deeply carved scarifications ; strange engraved figures depicting scorpions and butterflies ;
  • height of the mask : 51 cm x 25 cm x 22 cm (approx. 20 in.) ; weight : 2,100 grs ;
  • condition : cracks and chips, old losses, abrasions ; fine aged patina ; black display stand included ;
  • such an anthropomorphic IGBO mask is exhibited in (i) \'Musée du Quai Branly - Paris France\', and (ii) \'Museo d\'Arte e Scienza - Milano Italy\' (cf. pictures) ;
