I bought this lamp from an author. He inherited the lamp from him well off mother after finding it in the attic. I have researched the lamp thoroughly, but even after my research I am not closer to knowing its authenticity. The lamp is very nice quality, and definitely a period piece. So, if it is a reproduction, it is an early 20th century reproduction. If it is not Tiffany Studios (it is signed Tiffany Studios New York), then it most likely was a reproduction made by either Duffner & Kimberly, Gorham, Wilkinson, Unique, or some other notorious leaded mosaic glass lamp manufacturer. This shade is very unique and beautifully made. In my house I had it paired with a very nice snake bronze base. These did not come together. I bought them separately, but I am listing both separately. The shade is Tiffany Style. I cannot find any marks on the base, but it looks great paired with the lamp. I will show a picture of the pairing, but the base is sold separately. The shade measures 16\" in diameter and 7 1/4\" tall
I have scoured the internet comparing the known examples of the Tiffany Daffodil lamp. I found one that is identical which sold at sale for 22k. Comparing the colors, shapes of the glass pieces, craftsmanship, it looks nearly identical. You can see that one by searching Tiffany Daffodil lamp on google. The condition on this piece is great. I am not able to see any hairline cracks, but please assume that there are a few when offerding. Please also assume that some of the pieces of glass may have been replaced during it\'s life time. This was in the attic for many years and as a result it has a lot of stuck on dirt and dust. I cleaned it a little bit, but as you can see in the pictures there is still a lot more to clean. The patina on this piece is great. There is a healthy oxidization on the metal and is right up to par with an early 20th century piece. The cap has seen better days, but this too is understandable considering it\'s age.
In my research I read a statistic that only about 1 in 15 of the Tiffany lamps that are found each year are real. In lieu of this stat I only feel comfortable listing this piece as a reproduction. So, please only offer if you are comfortable knowing this is/may be a reproduction. My reasons for believing this may possibly be real are the patina, comparison to known examples, and the signature which reads Tiffany Studios New York. None of these should be taken a proof, however, considering that there are many fakes that have fooled even the most experienced saleeers. So please, only offer if you would be happy to own this if it was a reproduction. There will be no returns.
