American 12 pounder battle damaged cannonball,Captain Alexander Hamilton\'s New York Battery, King Street, Battle of Trenton,1776

This unique & one of a kind American 12 pounder cannonball with battle damage from hitting the muzzle of a Hessian 3 pounder cannon at the Battle of Trenton on December 26, 1777. It wasfired by Captain Alexander Hamilton\'s New York Battery at a pair of Hessian 3pounder cannonsofthe Hessian Knyphausen Regiment that were set up in the garden ofthe Donald Houseon King Street. It was found in the back yard of the house near a largestone outcrop where the Hessian cannons were set up when the old house was being torn down in 1934. There were several American 4, 6 & 12 pounder cannonballs& several Hessian 3 pounder cannonballs found.. It has a smallchunk broker out where it hit the cannon barrel but is in otherwise good conditionwithlightpitting with a dark brown patina.
