AMERICAN STERLING SILVER TEA CADDY
MADE BY DOMINICK & HAFF 1881
Pleased to offer this splendid example of American silver in the form of an 18th century Georgian tea caddy. This style was a reproduction of a classic English 18th century design. Ofoctagonalcylindrical shape, withrectangularsides and angled corners. Stands on a stepped sloped matching octagonalbase. The top of the tea caddy incorporates anintegralsliding panel displaying a raisedlipalongthe topcircumference. The actual stopper is round with a belltop and ball finial. The cap fitstightand firm.
The tea caddy is in most excellent condition with no dents, damage, or repairs. Bearing a high gloss luster. The finish had always only been hand polished. The caddy bears the original owners hand engraved initials.
Madefroma heavygaugeof silver this caddy weighs 215grams (7.5oz) Standing 5 1/4 inches tall to finial, and 3 1/2 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches deep. Stamped Sterling, witrh a pattern number of 36. Retailed by J.E Caldwell & Co, bearing themakersmark of Dominick & Haff with a marked date of 1881.
