A 19th-century small bentwood box painted with wonderful folk art flowers. The small box is 6 1/2\" across by 2 3/4\" high and has a black background with gold banding at the outside. The colorful flowers painted on the top have a great Victorian look, to me dating this box - or at least the paint - to the 1870\'s - 80\'s. Condition is solid, but it does have some minor problems as pictured, most importantly a crack across the top, even though it remains structurally sound. A wonderful, high-quality piece of early American folk art indicative of the finest painted furniture of the period. Truly outstanding surface and paint!
