This pendant necklace has all the elements of a great gem. It is so hard to find these eminently wearable Belle Epoque, Edwardian jewels as they are so very very collectible! This pendant necklace is just perfect and I am just crazy about it!
It is in the garland style that characterizes the Edwardian period. The central gem is a stunning natural mined oval faceted Amethyst of the most wonderful Siberian purple color with incredible fire!!! This gorgeous gem is 19 mm by 15 mm. It is collet set in 14K rose gold with a lovely leaf motif open work border set with 4 silvery seed pearls.
And then there is the amazing chain which is further set with 6 stunning round faceted amethysts - what a delight!!!!!
And Amethyst is all the rage today. Look at the photos from the recent issue of Veranda I have included with the prices!
The amethysts are so wonderful. They are the most gorgeous purple. They are wonderfully faceted. These are naturally mined antique amethysts! The pearls are gorgeous natural silvery white pearls - just wonderful pearls. The jewels are set in 14K gold.
These jewels are so very very hard to find and this one is so immensely wearable! I believe the jewel dates to the Edwardian period, c1910, however; it could be a later interpretation of the style. The combination of the sparkling amethyst and seed pearls in this wreath style necklace is the epitome of femininity and elegance!
The necklace comes from a prominent New York city estate.
The necklace is in excellent condition. The amethyst pendant is 29 mm long and 24 mm wide. The necklace is 17 inches (43 cm) long. It tests for 14K. The necklace weighs 10.7 grams.
