Mughal Indian / Afghan Islamic metalwork -dating from the 18th century.
A heavy gauge hand constructed copper ewer, (aftaba).
Of baluster tear drop form, the vessel rests an applied conical circular foot. The surface has retained traces of the original tinned finish.
The vessel incorporates two raised teardrop form embellishments. The scrolling spout rises from the shoulder - the opening of which incorporates a tapering heavy gauge tapering mount. Of waisted form, the neck rises through a raised central collar to form a \'bowl\' below the opening. A large elliptical flange forms a shaped rim to the opening.Overall height - 15 3/8\" (390mm).
Weight - 1,871 grams

Condition - Good. Bruises, signs of wear, and areas of old repair work - consistent with genuine age and usage. Fine natural colour and patina.
