Kashmiri Islamicmetalwork-dating from the beginning of the 20th century.Hand raised and worked from beaten sheet brass. The baluster form rests on a raised short collet foot. A star for embellishment is positioned at the base of the tapering neck. The opening locates the corresponding cover - the cover incorporates an ornate central knop. A chain linkage couples at the cover knop and links to the embellishment at the base of the neck.
The surface is finished with complex chiseled and chased decoration - diamond form motifs are incorporated within the decoration at the broadest area of the circumference. A band of lotus petals encircles the shoulder.
The surface is finished with silvering - parcel gilding further enhances the shaped motifs within the decoration - creating a striking appearance.
Overall height - 10 7/8\" (276mm).
Condition - Very Good. Rubbing to the silvering - consistent with genuine age and usage. No cracks and no repairs. Fine natural colour and patina.
