A Rectangular Sterling Silver Sandwich Tray by Williams Birmingham Ltd., Birmingham England, 1923

This is an elegant Edwardian style rectangular tray with a high polish serving area surrounded by a gorgeous pierced gallery with curvilinear decoration and finished with a thin, triple-band, beaded border.

There are four high-polish areas on the pierced gallery suitable for monogramming.

The tray was made for Dingwalls, a jeweller in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada by Williams Birmingham Ltd, a firm of silversmiths in Birmingham, in operation between 1905-1930.

This would make a very special wedding or anniversary gift for someone who appreciates fine English silver. It would be great on a bar under liquor bottles or glasses or on a large vanity beneath toiletries and perfume bottles.

Marked: On the bottom of the tray with a an impressed makers\' mark "W.B. Ltd" in raised printed letters in the middle of an impressed, chased heart. Below that the three assays: anchor, lion and the letter "Y" indicating sterling silver manufactured in Birmingham in 1923. On the other side of the back a vendor\'s mark "Dingwall, Winnipeg" (pictured).

Measures: 8 12 " H x 18 1/2" L. Weight: 733 grams.

Excellent condition: Minor patination to the centre commensurate with age (pictured).
