Afghan -dating from the 19th century.
A hand constructed copper ewer, (aftaba), of baluster form and resting an applied conical circular foot - crimped and brazed assembly seams are visible.
The vessel incorporates two raised crescent form embellishments - see image 9. The scrolling spout rises from the shoulder - the opening of which incorporates a shaped embellishment. Of waisted form, the neck rises through a central collar type embellishment, forming a \'boat\' shaped opening at the upper most extreme. The opening is also of crescent form, incorporating a rolled and swaged rim.
The surface is finished with chiseled decoration of geometric from, creating bands to the neck and vessel - detailed by the additional images.Overall height - 14 1/2\" (368mm).
Weight - 1,070 grams
Condition - Good. A bruise to the base of the spout, (image 12). Minor bruises and signs of wear - consistent with genuine age and usage. Natural colour and patina.
