Egyptian, (Cairo) -dating from the first half of the 20th century.
A hand constructed brass casket form box. The cover is chaffered at the four edges and incorporates a pair of copper riveted strap type hinges.A hasp and staple closure to the front face incorporates a small locking tab.
The exterior surfaces are finished with chiseled and punched decoration. The decoration incorporates shaped cartouches containing inscriptions to the cover and four vertical faces of the base - detailed by the additional images.
Internally, this example is lined with the original wood panelling - see image 11.Overall size: width - 4\" (102mm),max depth, (excluding catch) - 2 5/8\" (67mm), height - 2 3/8\" (61mm).
Weight - 326 grams

Condition - Very Good. Untouched natural colour and patina.
