Ottoman Islamic metalwork -dating from the 19th century.
A hand constructed brass ewer of fluted baluster form and resting on the most unusual applied convex foot. A band of embossed lotus petals embellish the raised foot. The scrolling spout rises from the shoulder and incorporates a taper at the opening. Of waisted form, the undecorated neck rises through a simple baluster ring. The scrolling handle is tightly mounted - the \'T\' form handle brace is finished with cut decoration. The handle incorporates the cover hinge fulcrum.
The convex and enclosed cover also incorporates a band of lotus petals - corresponding with the foot. The hinged cover incorporates a segmented circular enclosure - the cover mounted with a faceted tear-drop knop.
The surface has retained traces of the original tinned finish.Overall height - 14 1/2\" (368mm).
Weight - 1,016 grams.

Condition - Very Good, (untouched). Minor bruises and surface marks, (consistent with genuine age and usage). Natural colour and patina.
