The booming economy of the region soon pushed Corinth to strike some of the earliest Greek coins, around the beginning of the 5th Century BC.

These coins were traded widely throughout the ancient world and were highly influential. Hence, here we have a silver stater of Corinthian type but struck in nearby Dyrrhachium.
