An ancient Near Easternstone bowl, dating to the late 4th – early 3rd millennium BC.
Carved from a beautiful dark green stone, sitting upon a subtly convex base, the steep walls rising to an everted lip. An elegant piece of truly ancient sculpture;the form is wonderfully symmetricaland reflects the work of an expert craftsman, skilled in his medium.
Representing many hours of labour,stone vesselswere valuable objects in the Cradle of Civilisation. They were produced by skilled workers and exported from the fertile crescent to societies on the edges of the ancient Near East as prestige goods.

Condition: Very good,restored from fragments andwith a small chip to the rim as shown.
