A wonderful translucent piece, with kicked-up conical base extending some way into the body. The vessel itself with squat body, cylindrical neck and collared rim. The body of the piece with attractive 'pinched' decorations.
This bottle exhibits a pontil mark, or glass-blowing scar, left behind when the piece was removed from the glass-blowing rod by the vitrearius, or glassworker. The elegant shape of the vessel, unusual upturned base demonstrates the advanced glass-blowing skills achieved in the Late Roman Empire.
Height:2 1/2 inches.
Condition: Excellent, with age related encrustation, unrestored.
